Black Lives Matter at the Capitol. Washington, D.C.
Black Lives Matter protesters overwhelm a set of barricades at the Capitol. The protesters were demonstrating against police brutality, sparked most recently by the deaths of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, LA and Philando Castile in the St. Paul suburb of Falcon Heights, MN.
Minutes after reaching the last barricade and having a standoff with police, a group of representatives including civil rights leader John Lewis came down the steps with their hands raised in "hands up don't shoot".
